Be aware of potential scams and misleading sales this 2026 wedding season

This is just some friendly advice from me, coming from some previous experiences

Wedding season is upon us, and last year I saw so many posts from brides & grooms who were unfortunately "scammed" in the sense that they either paid for goods not received, or receiving sales information from a duplicate fake account, or even from a business which doesn't exist.

Ultimately costing them loss of money, and unnecessary stress.

Buying items and services from groups and from previous brides & grooms doesn't have to be like this, so I thought I'd share a few little tips I've picked up over the years to help prevent it from happening as much this time.

Weddings are amazing, fun to plan, exciting to shop for, but sometimes with all that excitement we forget that there's still the odd nasty scammer out there, they slip through the cracks, or could be very convincing at posing as a reputable business.

So here's a few tips

Businesses

- When purchasing from a business, paying with either PayPal or Credit card can be a good option, as if anything was to go wrong, you are more likely to receive compensation or your money back.

- Wedding insurance is a real thing, its inexpensive, and can give you peace of mind with your larger purchases.

- Any genuine business Small or Large should have no problem in sending you over an invoice, or proof of purchase

It's a good idea to check a few factors online when buying from a business

- Google search the business, look at the

Google profile if there is one

 - Check for reviews, and which country they came from

Purchasing frome private sellers

NOTE

If paying by bank transfer, this is at your own risk, and funds are unlikely to be recovered if something goes wrong.

If a deal seems too good to be true! It could be. You can ask for a receipt, or to purchase through a selling platform if you have any doubt.

Check their Facebook profile and search their name into the group search bar for any previous mentions

Please do not be put off by this, it's not all doom and gloom! There are some amazing small businesses out there looking for a chance to show you what they can do and lots of couples selling their unwanted wedding items to be loved again.

Moral of the post is to just do a few extra checks before making a purchase.
